Dolphin Neurostim MPS Therapy

MPS Therapy is the application of the Dolphin Neurostim DC microcurrent with therapeutically integrative protocols. The Dolphin Neurostim applies brief, concentrated impulses of DC microcurrent to specific treatment points to relax tight muscles, calm the nervous system and release endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers.

When MPS is applied in these specific protocols, all three systems – nervous, muscular and endocrine – are positively affected, making the Dolphin Neurostim effective for treating many chronic and acute soft-tissue and orthopaedic pain conditions.

Chronic pain:

The key to the treatment of almost all chronic pain syndromes in patients is the regulation and calming of the autonomic nervous system (ANS), and the release of physical and/or mental blockages, which can keep the sympathetic branch in “high” drive. Upregulation of the sympathetic nervous system is also called hypersensitivity.  It may be caused by nerve root entrapment (radiculopathy), misalignment of the spine or jaw, emotional stress such as anxiety/depression or scars that energetically influence the ANS.

Whatever the primary cause, the patient displays stiff, taut muscles and is hypersensitive, causing tender trigger points and chronic pain patterns.

There are several well-known potent parasympathetic acupressure points that will significantly calm a patient, reduce muscular tension and permit deeper tissue work without the patient guarding. Applying the Dolphin Neurostim to select calming points can significantly down regulate the sympathetic nervous system and reduce pain levels. Some patients have reported elimination of all their pain symptoms with this type of therapy.

Scar Tissue Release:

This is a technique that involves applying the Dolphin Neurostim to both sides of visible scars, using the microcurrent therapy to “repolarize” the local tissue and release adhesions in the fascia and muscles influenced by the scar. This technique should not be underestimated in its potency. Releasing scars that habitually influence a pain site can sometimes be the single most important factor in the treatment of chronic pain.

Nerve root entrapment and radiculopathy:

Entrapment of a nerve root can and will have significant influence on, or cause pain, along the nerve pathways from your spine to your trunk and limbs.  Your nerve roots can get crowded or compressed when the paraspinal muscles shorten, or when you have degenerative changes in the joints of your spine, called facet or Z joints.  This can be due to poor lifestyle and movement habits, work ergonomics, traumatic injuries or congenital factors. The tissues and organs innervated by each specific nerve root will be adversely affected and may function abnormally or less than optimally. Applying Dolphin MPS therapy to the muscles on each side of a compressed nerve will immediately relax the paraspinal muscles and “release” the nerve root entrapment, providing significant relief to the patient.

Structural re-alignment of the sacrum and spinal joints:

The sacrum, which sits at the base of the spine, is the foundation of your spine. If the sacrum is out of alignment, the spine will be as well.  The sacrum has significant influence on the pain, as it directly influences the parasympathetic nervous system, which counteracts the pain or stress cycle caused by the sympathetic nervous system. Many chronic disorders such as back pain, hip and knee pain and fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue syndrome, have significant pain origins in the spine and sacrum. Relaxing the muscles in the lower back and around the sacrum helps to realign the sacrum and can produce immense long-term benefits to the pain patient. All pain patients, regardless of conditions or symptoms, would benefit from having their lower back and deep hip muscles treated and released with Chiropractic and MPS Therapy.

Non-invasive Vagus nerve stimulation:

Dolphin Vagal Nerve Stimulation produces miniscule DC microcurrent impulses that gently relax and activate the vagus nerve.  According to the Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine, ten minutes of vagal nerve stimulation relaxes the body and mind as much as eight one-hour massages!  The concept of electrically stimulating the auricular branch of the vagus nerve (ABVN), is now gaining recognition in the scientific community.  Dolphin Neurostim non-invasive vagal nerve stimulation (VNS), has been reported to improve heart rate variability, activate the parasympathetic nervous system, boost lung functioning, reduce inflammation and decrease the cytokines involved in the inflammatory response. Dolphin Neurostim vagal nerve stimulation helps to relax the entire body, which results in lower blood pressures, improved digestion, more stable blood sugar levels, diminished activity of the stress hormones, decreased muscle tension and reduced chronic pain.

Covid Long/post covid syndromes:

Vagal nerve stimulation has been shown to be helpful in treating COVID Long haul symptoms including shortness of breath, cough, fatigue, joint and muscle pain, headaches and brain fog.  Over the course of  several sessions, it can be effective in diminishing or eliminating these symptoms completely.

Testimonials

Lucy B.

I HIGHLY recommend Mary for both pilates and chiropractic.  She is supremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the science and art of her practices.   Her pilates instruction is superlative– intelligent, steady and inspiring.  As an alignment-based yoga teacher of 17 years, I’m particularly picky about whose classes I take, and could not be happier with her.

Mary is amazing!! I had so much pain in my shoulder that it started affecting my every day life. After a few sessions my shoulder feels like new. Her approach to helping one’s body is like nothing I ever encountered. I HIGHLY recommend.

Dr Brown is amazing! Her technique is different than any other I have experienced but it’s calming and so restorative. I feel so much better after seeing her. I’m very grateful.
